Driving in Italy was always pleasure and still is....:

since more than 40 years I am driving all over Italy, with a TIR-truck, with regular car for business, with horse trailer to events .... and for just travelling pleasure

Police is no issue - rules are there, but bendable - people are very helpful and friendly...

sometimes they steal your car/ happen to me once... but just take care with overnight parking - as I got also a car stolen in the centre of Vienna in front of Votiv church ... hahaha in Italy it was very near to Vatikan... so may ... somebody holy is driving with them now....

but no worries - its just a great Country to enjoy the views of history, to enjoy food and wine ........ ..
